My Demons Pissing In A Bucke - Ammonic [Self release - 2022]The rather wonderfully named My Demons Pissing In A Bucket is a new project from Flanders based noise/grim drone maker Damien De Coene. And Ammonic is the project's first crude ‘n’ blacked sonic fruit- basically what’s on offer here is extremely lo-fi, nasty, and bubbling drywalled noise- heavily nod towards the likes of early Cannibal Ritual, or maybe someone like Vomir or Dead Body Collection, at their most rough, ready, and particularly nasty. The release is a self-released digital affair- with the cover artwork being a densely squibbed box, which is surrounded by a thick frame of total blackness. The release can be found just here.
The single self-titled track comes in at the 37.55 mark. And what we find is a blunt, flat, and raggedly fixed motor like purring- this is surrounded by a loses rattling static grain, with the whole thing set back in a hissed recording haze. The ‘wall’ is akin to either the steady, yet ageing grinding chainsaw heard on a grey half-light dawn, or the sound of a motorbike motor cross- but heard from being buried just underneath the racing track surface. The whole thing is raging unrelenting in its attack- with at points the two main textures seem to blur and blend together to create, a swirling thick and choking mass- that you can almost smell…all sulphur, burnt rancid rubber, and tarry bittiness.
Ammonic is a great trip back to the days of crude ‘n’ nastily raging old-school walled noise- with De Coene really nailing both the textural type, bluntly blacked flow, and constrict muffled production. So not a release for those looking for either textual detailed cleverness, or droned out walling- as this is pure, nastily bucking ‘n’ roasting HNW- for fans of the old days. Roger Batty
