Go to the Xploding Plastix website  Xploding Plastix - Amateur Girlfriends Go Proskirt Agents [Beatservice Records - 2001]

The Norwegian duo Xploding Plastix creates music with a combination of jazz and electronic beats. The jazzy sections are mainly samples from old records and it´s really interesting to hear how they made new songs out of these. The atmosphere they achieve is quite dark and moody. Something you would get from a horror-flick or a gangster-movie from the ´60's.

With its 14 tracks, this album is full of treasures. Xploding Plastix really try to make a diverse album and avoid monotony, something other artists in this genre don´t achieve easily. I do have to be in the right mood to fully enjoy this album and sometimes it´s hard to sit through the whole record, but nevertheless these guys know how to make some interesting songs. The sounds are amazing and I recommend you to listen to 'Amateur Girlfriends Go Proskirt Agents' through headphones or on a good stereo. A track like 'Behind The Eightball' for instance is just perfect. It´s like the orchestra played live on the track itself. Together with 'Treat Me Mean, I Need The Reputation' this is one of my favourite tracks on the album. The latter is a hit-song where it´s just hard to sit still while listening to it.

All in all I find this one of the most interesting releases in it´s genre. For me they surpass an artist like Amon Tobin easily. Xploding Plastix shows the rest of Europe that Norway is still one of the most interesting countries in music at the moment. Now if this album could get a proper distribution, the rest of the world could enjoy it too.

Impressive...
