Wraith of the Ropes - Ada [Total Rust - 2005]Wraith Of The Ropes come off like a freakish cross breed of G.G.F.H. Stumbling doom, horror piano, sinister intent and proggy structures, high with synthesizer horror. Making for a debut album those mangers to offer something a bit chilling and different, with a great focus on atmosphere and creepiness. Throughout its running time the album seems swathed in the wonderfully gothic horrortinged atmosphere, which Cradle Of Filth captured on their debut's (The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh) slower moments, but sadly they never really reached again. Ada seems alive with images of a creaking mansion, eerily rearing out of the fog, creatures of the night crawling with morbid curiosity over fresh kills. Decaying iron fenced graveyards, drifting with the sound of creepy moaning. It also seems tipped with a great sadness, of dreams long lost, much like a feeling one can imagine a freshly turned creature of the night would feel about not being able to see the sunlight for long, this is wonderfully highlighted by Scarecrow Rottinghouse's (what a great name!) grandiose and creepy keyboard work. So if you're ready, the bloodred silklined coffin awaits you, amid a mistshrouded field. The voices of the night's denizens are calling you in melancholic wonder. Ada is waiting for you just between life and death, enchanting yet deadly. To order direct go to here and to find more about the band shuffle along here Roger Batty
