Martwi - Dangoswch Eich Darnau Gwyn i Mi [Inferna Profundus Records - 2021]

Dangoswch Eich Darnau Gwyn i Mi severs up eight sonic tombstones of raw ‘n’ grimly wonky blacked metal, which has a decidedly Les Légions Noires vibe to it. The tracks move between stumbling ‘n’ crudely glamouring mid-paced affairs, onto grimly coffin crawling BM,  through to dank ‘n’ cracked crypt-like ambience.

Martwi is a three-piece project that brings together members from both the Polish and British BM underground- with members connected to projects such as  Revenant Marquis, Vermisst, and Capel Beulah. Dangoswch Eich Darnau Gwyn i Mi( in English Show Me Your White Pieces) is the projects first release- and it’s going to be appearing as an LP pressing on Inferna Profundus Records, sometime this summer.

The album kicks off with "Hunleff"- here we find ultra crude shrieked and bayed vocals, crashing ‘n’ smashing drum hits, and a wondering’ n’ waveringly grim guitar craft. The whole thing is barely holding together, and sounds like it was recorded inside several separate coffins inside a dusty crypt- both the vocals and the guitar shift in their pace, with the drums, sudden crashing in & out in a wonderful smarting manner. As we move on we come to the stark and crude ambience of “House By The Cemetry”- where we find stretched blacked guitar discord ‘n’ drift,  echoed screams and wails, and a ton of grim reverb.  We have the wonky tremolo, fuzzing churn, shrieked and hissed vocals, and occasional smashing drums of “Around This Grave”.  There’s blunt warbling riffing and buried- yet- baying to hissing vocals of “Tenebra”,  with the album been finished off by ghoulish and murky ambience of “Zapomniana Kostnica Pośród Bagien” with its slurred and barren guitar tone simmers, crawling shrieks and wails, and this sort of hovering dark ‘n’ damned monk-like droning.

All in all Dangoswch Eich Darnau Gwyn i Mi  is a grimly nasty ‘n’ wonkily blacked example of  BM craft- if you enjoyed the genre at its most gnarled, rotting, and ghoulish unhinged then you’ll be needing to check this out. Let’s hope this isn’t the only trip to the BM graveyard from Martwi.
