Swedish Gas Pump Girls - Swedish Gas Pump Girls(DVD) [Full Moon Features - 2018]From Full Moon Features here’s another reissued slice of Euro-sleaze. This 1980 ’s film a bright, breezing, and decidedly leering sex comedy from infamous Swiss director/producer Erwin C. Dietrich, who of course produced a fair few Jess Franco movies in the ’70s.
Swedish Gas Pump Girls- aka High Test Girls, aka Friendly Favours, aka Six Swedes at a Pump(!) was Dietrich’s follow-up to 1979’s Six Swish Girls In Boarding school, moving the bawdy & saucy comic action from boarding school to a small village, where a group of young women are giving out more than fuel & fags a gas station. The films a blend of softcore action, innuendo & double entendre fuelled humour, and the odd more bizarre/ WTF touches- for example at one point we find a TV presenter pleasuring a woman through the side of a TV, and in the end he mounts some steps to literally go inside of her via the top of the set.
As you'd expect the film is fairly low on plot/ depth- you basically have one encounter after another between the pump girls & customers. Then we get a side plot of the mayor & the local council- and each time they meet one of them is late, so roll’s in the double entendres. It’s basically just sleazy & cheesy slice of 80’s euro sleaze, with some amusing moments- and not much more.
Cast-wise we get a few recognisable faces- of the ‘pump-girls’ we get Brigitte Lahaie( Fascination, The Grapes Of Death, Women Of Inferno Island), France Lomay( Oasis Of Zombies, Emmanuelle 3), Nadine Pascal( Zombie Lake), and Elsa Maroussia(Six Swish Girls In Boarding school). From the councillors, we get Franco regular Eric Falk- playing the towns Butcher- but otherwise the film’s made up of unknowns.
The newly remastered print from the original 35mm print- looks good enough, with the blend of flesh, quaint village colours, and greens & browns of the nearby forest been mostly bright & clear. Like the other Full Moon reissues of euro sleaze- this disc is an extremely bare-bones affair- seeing just a selection of trailers for other films of a similar ilk released by the label.
If you’re in the mood for some lightly amusing & campy 1980’s euro sleaze, that does need much thought or concentration- then I think you’ll enjoy Swedish Gas Pump Girls.Roger Batty
