Romain Perrot - Absurdum Compil- 2015 reissue( artzine) [Black Blood Press - 2015]French-man Romain Perrot is most known for his intense, unchanging & highly prolific wall noise project Vomir, but he has also stepped out into other genres of sound/ art. This 106 page art-zine brings together a collection of his derange, perverse & child-like art- taking in crude drawings, manic scribbles, hand written texts, rough collages, ect. It originally appeared back in 2013 in very small numbers on Perrot’s label Maison Brut Maisonbruit- this reissue appeared in February 2015 in an edition of 80 copies on Black Blood Press( the small press part of Portuguese sleaze ‘n’ depravity & noise label Narcolepsia) The zine comes in the form of an A4 single sheet booklet, which has three staples holding it together. The front & back covers feature a single sided cream stock, while the rest of the zine is printed( double side) on normal A4 white paper. Contents wise is a very loose, undated & lo-fi collection of art- moving from line drawings of Perrot naked & aroused with axes, chainsaw, ect- on his own or with women. Very crude mixes of thick scribbles & stuck on porn collage, Vomir themed lo-grade comic strip, French hand written texts, various derange & perverse drawings( that look like they were done by a highly troubled child). The whole thing certainly follows the crude & often disturbed feel of his sonic work, and while it’s not the most varied of art-zines, it does make an nice visual companion to his sonic endeavours. Having followed Vomir & Perrot’s other projects for many years now, it’s great to get a collection of his art. This of course will be of interest to fans of Perrot's sonic output, along with those looking for really crude, rough & perverse art. Roger Batty
