Sturmgeschütz - We Destroy [Slow Death Records - 2011]

“We Destroy” finds this Serbian extreme and war obsessed HNW project offering up three near fifteen minute tracks of punishing and hope crushing walled matter. Leaving you feeling by the end of the release like you’ve been through the ringer and back again…but it a pleasing and moorish manner.

First up we have “We Destroy Togeather” which is the longest track here at just under the seventeen minute mark. The tracks ‘wall’ is built around a meaty and blown -out chugging texture which seems to feed into it’s self in a brutal yet appealing manner. I guess the tracks  sounds something  like twenty or thirty stream power tanks or assault vehicles having a continuous ramming battle with each other. The track remains constant and mainly unchanging through it’s length, yet it does manage to very much suck you into it’s crusty ‘n’ streaming chug like structure.

Up next we have “We Destroy All Around Us” which comes in at just under the fifteen and half minute mark. This track is once nicely crusty and nasty in it’s feel, the ‘walls’ centred around a mixture of textural roaring ‘n’ roast drone matter that has a fast crusty judder slide in, out and around it. Once again this track is locked in it’s textural pattern & make-up, but it’s extremely entrancing as your mind follows first one element, then the other on it’s travels.

Lastly we have “We Destroy Ourselves” which comes in at just over the fifteen and half minute mark. This tracks ‘wall’ is built from a constant flame-thrower like drone which has over the top of it a rapid and crusty mass of jittering static. I really like the mixture of endless textural roast and urgent jittering static on offer here. The track brings to my mind rather macabre  & surreal footage of a mass of soldiers being engulfed by  pure and unstoppable fire, and  there runing 'n' smashing into each other in flame bound like mass scrum. Once again the tracks ‘wall’ is locked and unmoving in it’s feel, but it’s very enjoyable too.

“We Destroy” is certainly up there with the best work this project has done thus far, as each track here is very rewarding and worthy in it’s own right. So if you’re a fan of crusty, locked and violent walled noise this is a must get item.
