Screloma - Rotten Sarkoma [Steinklang Industries - 2008]

Screloma is a  mainly one piece Japanese project who with this their second album offer up mixture of caustic industrial/ electroinca beats & textures, electro noise attacks and the odd swing into noise guitar scapeing

Most of the tracks here start off with  fiery industrial beat pattern or clunking tone with often a grim synth throb present too. Added to this we have the odd traces of dramatic film soundtrack stretched & mophed, radio voice rumble, or the odd muffled power electronics shout.  As the tracks progress Screloma slowly but surely starts to add in more and more noise bound and caustic stretchers and simmers; which often finds the tracks threatening to pull apart into beat-less all out noise attacks- but they rarely do. The problem is the tracks often take predicable and un-surprising paths; they build, boil and back down pretty much when expected

All the  nine tracks here are executed confidently enough with an air that comes across as been both brooding and brutal; but the thing is there’s nothing here that really grabs you as been particular different, new or distinctive- it just sounds like it’s description: industrial noise cross breed- nothing less or more.
