Go to the Various Artists website  Various Artists - Fabriksampler v2 [Pharmafabrik - 2008]

In these days of 'partymix' and 'shuffle' on one hand and the emphasis on being able to customize everything to your own personal choice as we have to remember we're inviduals above all, one can wonder if there's room for a compilation.

Slovenian recordlabel Pharmafabrik collected songs from musicians known and unknown. The most 'famous' contributors would be Justin Broadrick under his guise of Final and fellow ex-Napalm Death member Mick Harris as Lull (both infinitely more quiet than their shared part of history). Also Henrik Nordvargr Björk gained some notoriety in the scene of drones, noise and ambience. Those three genres are also what you can expect from this interesting mix. Sometimes calm yet gloomy, as you can expect from the artists I already mentioned, but also a bit more relaxing like the more conventional ambience of Pure H. Things get a bit more hectic (relatively speaking) with Left Eye Dominant, but soon you'll find yourself in a calmer yet darker alley with Alexei Borisov and Tania Stene (the latter may ring a bell in black metal circles when I say 'Nacht' for her graphic work primarily). Only to get even darker with Nordvargr's contribution. Dodecahedragraph is making the water ripple again. Lull delivers one of the darker pieces although it's somewhat mellow by its own standards (at least judging by the two albums I know).

It's nice to be taken on a ride and Pharmafabrik is a good guide on this dark trip. Songs are all segued into eachother to make it a continuous travel through a mysterious soundworld. Excellent for a grey day in winter and of course the darkness of night, and you can just sit back not having to worry about the songselection for once.
