Death In June - The world that summer- extras ep [soleilmoon - 2008]This is a reissue of a near on 30 minute ep that originally came with the now out of print 2006 stone box edition of The world that summer & unlike a lot extra’s/ bonus material collections this is rewarding, varied and works as a stand alone collection in it’s right. It features three alternative versions of tracks from The World that Summer original album that were featured on the now out of print Corn years disk which are the following: Love Murder, Break The Black Ice and Rule again. And three re-recorded acoustic versions from 2006 of The World that Summer tracks which are: Rocking Horse Night, Come Before Christ And Murder Love, And Torture By Rosés. With the acoustic 2006 tracks being the most rewarding to my ear’s, as I’ve only found Death In June in recent years & really enjoy his acoustic work as he really rib's the tracks with original/ creative production and subtle sounds with out taking away from their haunting and harmonic centres. But the other tracks are also enjoyable in their own right with often a very post- industrial sound like early coil and Current 93 but of course with the distinct Death in June twist. With David Tibet appearing on joint vocals with Douglas P on the last track Rule again synth and sampled horn lined ritual. A 'must-have' release for those who missed out on the box, but it also works well as a introduction to those who want to taste Death in June’s distinctive and highly rewarding sonic fruits.
