Meso Meso - Mitten [Locies' Records - 2008]Meso Meso debut album is knee deep in child like melodies, tinkinling tones, accordion playing and cute pop vibe.Think a more cute ‘n’ cuddly day-glow Mum with out electronics, with more folk learning’s and some quirky sampled elements. Meso Meso voice is very love or hate thing she sort of sounds like a small cuddly female Munchkin or bear singing, or a gremlin before they become nasty, but it all with a slight lisp tone. The musical backing is a cosy, childlike and harmonic mix of accordion, tinking vibes and xylophone, music box like tones, deep strummed and reverb heavy acoustic guitar and sweet electric indie guitar tones. The album takes in 8 fairly short songs around the 3 to 5 minute mark each in all making an album just running over half an hour. The songs are simple in their child like melodies and tinkling tones yet she mangers to layers up the sound textures effectively. A pleasant if highly cute bond dubet album with some nicely written, tuneful song fair on display through out. Really if you enjoy mum at their most childlike you have a whale of a time with this    Roger Batty
