Wildildlife - Six [Crucial Blast - 0000]

Sliding in just at the tale end of 07 Wildildlife debut is an exuberate, heady & creative take on the rock & noise guitar genres. Going from discordant metal/meets art punk riffing, to memorable bouncing rock craft with chanted vocals, to more introspective and bleak tones, to spacey summer days unfolding jams- This has a hell of a lot to offer.

It all starts off with Things will grow that opens with a foot tapping drum intro and spacey tuneful guitar  hits before jumping into a wonderful shambolic mix of chanted vocals, memorable and euphoric punked rock guitar, that’s granted to have you humming. A bit father into the albums life we   Magic Jordan that starts off with slow hazy sunlight rock unfold with the leader singer having a very Michael Gira tone to his voice . Over the next 18 minutes the track builds up to rip roaring noisy crescendo with the lead singers rant and raving with harmonic oh’s nudge around. Before sliding off into a wonderful spacey, folk tinged psychedelic rock jam with all manner of synths, tinkling bell tone etc added in o the rich head mix of guitars and percussion. Another favoret  track of mine is Feed which starts off with lots of nice piecing electronics and guitar tones before slamming into a doom punked discordant riff pile that amazingly turns it’s self amazing tuneful and caughty towards the end.

A great debut album full of so much promise for the future- sure at times they sound a little too close to some of their influences, but you could say that of many debut album. One of the great opening shots of last year & one of the most repayable debut of recent years too- so come-on jump head first into six.
