Go to the Six Twilights website  Six Twilights - Six Twilights [Own Records - 2007]

Roughly Six Twilights, a project by A Weather's Aaron Gerber, can be situated in the same 'digi-acoustic' section where Function resides. Six Twilights is more consistent in style though, think indie/folk digitally manipulated into ambient textures.

The music on this untitled debut (or untitled band, it depends on how you want to see it) is also slightly less soothing, or more precisely: it can take a more coarse turn. Most of the time there's whispery, delicate vocals (male and female) with fitting accompaniment from melancholic stringsounds and mild droney basstones, but occasionally it takes a bit more dissonant, worrisome turn. The endresult is not so much psychedelic, not in that sixties hippie-sense anyway. Also there's nothing remotely 'rock' about this music, but all the more dreamy ambient but never sounding as digital as the word 'ambient' may suggest.

Ambitiously the album comes with a dvd that contains pictures to the music. I feel I didn't really need that. Most of the times it's everyday stuff but blurred... and as banal as that sounds that's exactly the light it sheds on the music (and even more the spoken word parts on the dvd). It seems an attempt to elevate the mundane to the arcane but with somewhat cheap or contrived effects and therefore failing.

So while musically I found this package quite nice, but the dvd casts a bit of a shadow over it. With just music the effects in my own mind were much more interesting than the pictures you get from the dvd (except for a few snowy parts which sucker me in quite easily). So the score is made up of 4 kudo's for the audio cd, but 2 for the dvd.
