Olion - Etherfall [Self Release - 2025]Etherfall is a new four-track/full-length release from Polish wall noise project Olion. Each ‘wall’ comes in around the fifteen-minute mark, with the entire release featuring an Icelandic ice desert and waterfalls theme. The release is a self-released digital album, featuring a cover photo taken at an ice- and snow-bound waterfall. Here’s the link to check it out .
There’s a fair bit of variation between the tracks, though each has a decidedly chilling/ freezing vibe. “I” is a taut blend of constant rolling bass rumble, mid-range hack/ crack, and flowing small grain static. “II” brings together a constant, uneven wind battering tone, with a flowing blend of static grit and on ice tight jittering. Finally, with “III” we find a blend of inside a snow cave wind buffeting & rattling frozen gritting baying.
Each of the ‘walls’ on Etherfall is well realised and ties in well to the theme of the whole thing. Each ‘wall’ feels just right at its length, too, never overstaying its welcome. All making for a worthy release. Roger Batty
