MDS - MDS vs Satan [Gates Of Hypnos - 2025]MDS vs Satan features three militantly brutal slabs of HNW, with each being as intense, unrelenting, and set as the other. The digital release appears on Poland’s Gates Of Hypnos- one of the key labels presently releasing walled noise today. Cover artwork-wise, we get an illustration of a robot warrior fighting the old horned one himself. Follow this link to check it out for yourself.
MDS is one of the projects by Leeds-based Peter Beswick( Carrion, Meanwood Beck, Utterblight). It started in March of this year, having, as of writing, around ten releases to its name, taking in splits with the likes of Sado Rituals and Juanito))), as well as stand-alones. It themes all of its work around macho/robotic sci-fi focused anime.
Each of the three tracks runs at dead on the ten-minute mark. First out of the gate, we have “Temper”- this melds a rapidly rolling ‘n’ roaring bass tone, which is topped with clattering and churning tones – it’s a nicely brutal/ clear out of your ears start to the release.
Next is “Conquer” here we find a very thick blend, constantly and rapidly bass chugging- around these are chalky hacking tones. It sounds akin to something truly huge being dragged along, as huge feet bounding on & on across a landscape
Finally, we have “Satan Defeated”- which pulls together a thick and speedily meaty bass roll, with cluttered, at times vaguely forking to buzzing subtone detail.
MDS vs Satan presents the listener with no-nonsense and intense wall art. Sure, there’s not a huge amount of texture variety present here from track to track, but if you're looking for an all-out & brutal wall attack, this works. Roger Batty
