Whore's Breath - Mock [ Filthy Sounds Records - 2025]Mock is a recent(ish) two-track release from this Cincinnati wall noise project. Each of the around thirty-minute walls has a tautly constricting feel, making for a nicely intense and airless hour-long ride. The album appears on Filthy Sounds Records as a YouTube release. For the cover art, we get a monochrome picture of that looks like a murky body scan of some form- the album can be found here.
Both of the tracks are untitled and play after one another on the upload, with no gap. The first track is a mixture of constant & tensioned bass roll, which is initially edged with just a short & tense skip grain. As the track progresses, seemingly, we get different small tones appearing- these moves from grainy drags, swirls of crunching crispness, micro line pulls, clicks, and subtle jitters- the reason I say ‘seemingly’ is I’m not fully sure how many are truly there/ or a trick of the ‘wall’.
Next, we have Untitled two, which is slightly shorter than the first track. Here we find a central locked judderng 'n' jumbling purr. As we move on, we get additions like a thin clutter, small pops ‘n’ snaps, and jumping jitters. Towards the end of the track, some high-end tones come into play, which awaken you from your taut-yet-grim entrancement.
Mock takes in two similarly taut 'n' tense walls. All making up for an engaging/tension-building ride. Another worthy Whores’ Breath, and it’s great to see another label releasing the project's work. Roger Batty
