O is a three-inch CDR bringing together the first four tracks recored by Burnaby, British Columbia’s Scrapping Young Bucks. I’d guess you’d discripe their sound as experimental electronica, with touches of skeletal new wave/ indie guitar playing, and uneasy Muzak weaved in. Quite a moody & original sound really.

We open with the track “Froggy Style” which starts with a blend of acceleration electro tones before dropping into a blend of a sinister electro voice saying ‘hurry, hurry’, uneven beat stabs, brooding synth sweeps, and manically jittering electro vibe runs.  The title track is a blend of slowly snapping real drums ‘n’ twanging guitar tone, waveringly sad/ slight wonky electro flute wails, and moody tollings. With the EP playing out with the wonderful named “Pissed Off Pussies” with it’s wonky galloping beats, chattering/ mad cartoon cat sounds, brooding synth purr, and faint darts of more playful/ bright key hits.

All in all, O is a great little Ep, and another great discovery from the fine folk at Inner Demon Records. Let’s hope we’ll get some more material down the line, as there is something rather original/ rewardingly odd going on here.
