Olion - Ectoplasm [Self release - 2025]

Ectoplasm is a new single/ EP from Poland’s Olion- a walled noise project that has been active since 2022. It takes a single twelve-minute ‘wall’ which blends constant bass cluttering drone, with splashing/ slapping static-bound elements on top.

This is a self-released digital affair, with cover artwork taking in a hazed/ fuzzed in purple drawing of an abstract shape on a plain black background. Here’s the link.

The single track comes in at the twelve minutes and seventeen seconds mark. It’s built around this persistent bass clutter/ rumble, which is edged by this slapping / splashing texture. It’s both moody/ urgent, as well as taut and appealing.

Image-wise, I’m getting standing in a dank/ rapidly dripping train tunnel hearing off in the nearby distant the rumbling soon to be soon-to-be-here train coming down the line. With the whole thing balancing well, a feeling of intrigue/anticipation of what is to come, but of course, nothing does develop.

Ectoplasm  is another worthy release from Olion- with a decent selection of textured layered together in a engaging yet moody manner.
