Salzig Noise - Kotwica [Militant Liturgy - 2025] Kotwica is a bleakly moody example of the ANW form. It’s a mix of constantly rolling low-end gallop with tautly jittering static tone. It feels like it could be possible, slowing down/ thinning out, but I think this is just an illusion, and the whole thing is relatively fixed. Salzig Noise is from Argentina- it’s seemingly been active for around two years now- it’s part of a recent breed of wall noise projects who are put out their releases on YouTube- with to date it having four hundred plus. Though it's not a self-release, but a digital download EP/ single on Poland’s Militant Liturgy, and can be found here
The single self-titled track runs at dead on the twelve-minute mark- though I could easily listen to three or four times that length, as the ‘wall’ is both rewardingly murky/ moody, and simply yet texturally engaging.
It’s built around a low-end/aquatic-like gallop, and a weave of static jittering- together these create a ‘wall’ that retains both atmosphere, mood and engagement equally well. I guess if we’re talking visuals, I'm getting a steady walk along the bottom of a river bed in a wetsuit, as a circle of haze of static surrounds you.
As far as I can gather/ recall, Kotwica is my first taster of the project work- and it’s certainly made me want to check out some more. Roger Batty
