Owners Of Knowledge - Like A Rock [Self release - 2025]Like A Rock( როგორც კლდე) is a recently released three-track release from Mtskheta, Georgia‘s Owners Of Knowledge, whose sound mixes elements of walled noise, dense ambience, and field recordings. Each track here rolls in at dead on the twenty-five minute mark, and each is a dense journey into all-enveloping sound craft, which sits at the more focused walled noise end of the project's sound. This is a digital self-release. Cover art-wise, we get a constant heavy/ black and white picture of either a close-up picture of a rock, or an overhead shot of a rocky landscape. The album can be found here
First up, we have ჩურჩული ( Whisper)- here we find a blend of distant gunning machine like churn ‘n’ gallop, faint rattling, and these slicing/ hissing smaller textured elements. I was getting quite a subterranean vibe from the ‘wall’, with churn n’ galloping tones pulling you in, while the smaller tones keep you held.
Next is დეგუსტაცია( Tasting). This time, we find a mix of blown-out/ pummelling bass, loose skittering, and a little industrial scraping detail. The blend here is very weighty/ crushing- the bass is great, though the small details are a little less appealing than in the first track.
Finally, we have საკათედრო ტაძრის აკუსტიკა ( Cathedral Acoustics). Here we find a topping of tight buffet and bay- underneath this is a just heard wishful whistling, and this constantly tolling bell. I like the mix of density and distant eeriness of this track.
So Like A Rock is a decent enough full-length release from Owners of Knowledge, and it will appeal to those who enjoy where dense meets layered detailed walling. Roger Batty
