Worship - I Give You Everything. [Self release - 2024]I Give You Everything is a recent six-track album from the rather mysterious Worship- the walled noise project that themes all of its work in praising the female form, in a non-smutty/ sleazed manner. This album, as with a few other recent releases from the project, pushes Worship’s sounds into genres such as thick drone, churning industry, and dark ambience. This self-released digital album takes in a rather moody/ritual-toned picture of a nude woman with her arms outstretched standing at the side of a lock/ body of water. The release can be found here.
The six tracks here run between six and nearly twenty-nine minutes. We open in a nice dark atmosphere-building vibe of “Increased Heartbeat”. It starts with slowly rolling out/ repetitive grey-to-darker tone hits, with each one, we get a nice feeling of shadowy/ brooding reverb occurring. By around the third minute, the pace of the tone loops had sped up, with more great low-end creeping hovers & almost explosive rolling tone hits.
As we go through the release we come to “Practice Patience”. Here we find a series of spaced-out textural spins- from the off these are fairly ragged/ lightly blown out around their edges. As this track progresses, we get longer textural dwells in these crude flapping wing-like tones- with again a rather unease edge to proceedings.
As we move towards the end of the album we have “Love Massage” which is one of the longer tracks here at just over the twenty-six-minute mark. It’s built around a selection of slowly juddering mids, with a shadowy bass undercarriage, and a slight gritty grain flit. The whole track has a great feeling of growing airless tension and low-key unease.
I Give You Everything shows Worship expanding his work beyond the formal bounds of walled noise, into something more distinctive and difficult to fully define. Another fine release from the project, and great to hear about its growth/ progression. Roger Batty
