Shumoizolyatsiya - Bez Nazvaniya [Wall Noise Action - 2024]Без Названия ( English translation Bez Nazvaniya) servers up four twenty-minute slices of walled noise from Шумоизоляция/ Shumoizolyatsiya. Each is as thick, bluntly bass-bound, and unforgivingly brutal as the other. The release is a digital affair- it appears on Kemerovo Oblast, Russian Federation-based Wall Noise Action. The cover artwork takes in three carved in brown letters set against a solid black backdrop. The album can be found here
Each of the four tracks has the same self-title Без Названия, and each runs between just over the twenty-minute mark & just over the twenty-one-minute mark. The first track brings together a muddy/mid-paced galloping bass tone- which is underfed by rattling and dragging subtones. It feels akin to being dragged behind a horse-drawn carriage- as the un-tarmacked road shifts and bucks.
The second track blends a rapid & dense bass cluttering-edged with rolling judder and static bound battering ‘n’ hiss. This feels like you are rolling down a hill in a barrel- as outside a runaway steam train keeps trying to keep up with you. Track three finds a droned out & weighty bass tone- topped with subterrain purr, and searing/ slightly bouncing hiss. There’s a nice feel of airless pressure & bone-crushing intensity about this track.
Finally track four finds a rather speedy dragging bass-bound judder- underfed by ripping, hacking, and raggedly roasting undertones. This feels akin to being set under the intense roar of a space racket- this track has a great feel is extremely seared brutality and makes for a suitable nasty end to proceedings.
If you have a penchant for brutal, thick, and dense walled noise which rewardingly flays one's sonic senses then this will most certainly do the job. Sure there isn’t a huge tonal range difference between the four tracks, but as excise in subtly altering intensity it works. Roger Batty
