His Haunted Humming - Prophecies [Self release - 2023]Prophecies is a new two-track release from Poland’s His Haunted Humming- which is one of the more recent projects from the mind behind the Sado Rituals project/ Gates Of Hypnos. Each track here comes in/ around the quarter of an hour mark, and each an example of buzzing ‘n’ droning bound walled noise. All of these projects release taking in religious illuminated texts, or old paintings- with a loose religious theme. For this release we see a black-gowned female figure on a gold throne surrounded by men with paper scrolls- I’m guessing the female figure is Mary, though she has no child. The release is a self-released digital release which can be found here.
We kick off with “Prophecies I” which jumps straight into a tightly woven blend of rapid buzzing purr, buffeting storm-bound mids, and skittering subtone detail. With this ‘wall’ there is a feeling of locked urgency present- as well as a sensation of hazed droning- which I guess could be seen as spiritual in its attack. With the whole thing seemingly speeding up/ piling up in its pace- with the textures blurring towards its resolve- though this could be a sonic illusion.
Next, we have “Prophecies II” here we find a more intense/ buzzing bass tone, which is knitted around by a short/ clipped judder, cluttering crispness, and possibly a few more way textural rips ‘n’ rolls- though again I’m not sure I’m imagining these or not.
Prophecies severs up two compelling ‘walls’, which nicely complement each other well with the cover/presentation topping the whole thing off well.
