Punished By My Future takes in two thirty-minute slabs of brain battering ‘n’ ear brutalizing HNW from ultra prolific California project Koobaatoo Asparagus. The digital release appears on the project's own label as a digital download.

Artwork wise we get a kinky colour picture of a male and masked slave sniffing the high-heeled shoe of his mistress. The release can be found and downloaded here. 

Both tracks here are self-titled, and both run at spot on the thirty-minute mark. And what we have here are two no-nonsense examples of the Harsh Noise Wall form, with a capital H.  

The first track brings together a rapidly billowing ‘n’ flaming low-end, with skittering mids, and some slightly rattling crusty sub-tones. With the whole thing sounding like been dragged along a pot-holed & ragged rock-strew road in a small boat, which is rapidly disintegrating around you- with your skin starting to get ripped ‘n’ bloody. There’s a great feeling of battering purpose to the whole wall, and while it’s fairly simplistic in its make up- the elements are balanced/ blended in an appealing brutal manner.

The second track brings together this rope-grinding-through-gears low end, with constantly jittering & choppy static-grained texturing. This ‘wall’ sounds literally like been fed through a convey belt-fed industrial metal grinder. The textures here are more unequal, and I’m getting some great sonic illusions from this track too. Again, another very well-balanced & tooled ‘wall’.

Koobaatoo Asparagus truly are one of the key & loyal artists worshipping at the church of walled noise- with it seemingly putting out several releases each month. But that certainly doesn’t mean there is a lack of quality and skill to its work, and Punished By My Future is a prime example of this point. Another consistent release from the project, with two brutally entrancing walls.
