Edo Žuđelović - Suočavanje Sa Duhovima [HNW Netlabel - 2022]Suočavanje Sa Duhovima( translated to Dealing With Ghosts) is a wonderfully tight ‘n’ constantly consisting slice of walled noise from this Bar Montenegro noisemaker. It’s a digital release, which is the equivalent of a 3in- as the single track comes in at just over the twenty-minute mark. The release appears on UK’s HNW Netlabel which is run/ curated by long-term wall-noise scenester James Shearman. Artwork wise we get a cover featuring a rather dissonating four-colour split picture of a shadowy forest. The release can be found here
Edo Žuđelović is a Bar Montenegro-based sound/ visual artist who relatively recently has been trying his hand at walled noise. I’ve already heard/ reviewed one or two of his wall release- and liked what I heard, and I must say I’m impressed by the track featured here.
The single self-titled track rolls in at the 19.12 mark. And from the off it’s a very constricting/ busy wall- it’s built around a rapidly feasting mesh of the following elements- a hiss-bound static rattle, a more beaded mid-range judder, and a ripping bound jitter. These are surrounded by smaller sub-tone billows(which seem to slow/speed up), and clutter static grain detail. The whole thing feels akin to slowly but surely sinking into a pit of slithering, leathery sliding, and coarsely hiss snakes- with the mass of pressing bodies, pressing on & tightening around one's body/ limbs. The runtime is just right, and throughout I’m getting a most effective feeling of subtle shifting walling- though I think aside from a few genuine moments of shift this is a firm and dense wall.
So, Suočavanje Sa Duhovima stands as another consistent release from Mr Žuđelović- so I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out now for his work in the future. For those who dig their wall craft very constricting and textural busy example of the genre, this will be your thing Roger Batty
