I Have No Face - I Have No Face [Gates Of Hypnos - 2022]This self-titled release is the first fruit of this new Polish noise project. The two-track release features one slice of searing walled noise, and one slice of moody-at-times wonkily industrial harsh noise scaping. This release appears on Poland’s Gates Of Hypnos, as a digital download. Its cover features a mouth-less and nose-less female manga character crying blood from its blacked eyes. The release can be found just here.
The first track is entitled “Screen Of Death”, and this takes up the lion's share of the release at 19.49 mark. Here we find a thick and searing mass of walled noise, which is built around a swirling low end-yet rapid drone- this is finished off with a slightly rattling yet manic skating tone. The whole thing has a very rushing and overwhelming quality to it- and at points, one can’t really define the patterns here, which gives the whole thing a nice feeling of chaos and rushing overwhelm-ment. And while the layer separation/ definition leaves a little to desire, as a jump into sonic searing nihilistic rush-out.
The other track here is the shorter title track- this run at the 9.12 mark. It opens with digital glitching and muffled key vibe like harmonics- then at the minute and a half mark kicks in with sudden billow ‘baying (possible guitar) chimes, clunking metal tone- again there is a very messy and lose feel to the elements here. At the mid way, we switch into a throbbing choppy ‘n’ pulled noise bass slugs, electro judder pitch attacks, and hacking on/ off percussion chops, before winding small electro pitch manic-ness plays out the track.
If you enjoy messy and seared takes on either walled noise and/or electro glitched harsh noise- then this self-title will certainly appeal to you. Apparently this, and the project's other work a conceptual horror buried within it, which is kind of neat. Roger Batty
