Lord Cernunnos - Ame [Imploding Sounds - 2022]Ame features forty-six minutes’ worth of evenly rolling ‘n’ droning walled noise from this Everett, Washington based project. The vibe/tone here is very much starkly wintery encasement, with the whole thing coming off like being rolled into a massive snowball, or buried under an avalanche- where all you see/ feel is white and cold crispness. The release appears on Seattle’s Imploding Sounds- coming as just a digital download. Artwork wise we get a grimly inversed picture of a barn & broken down country fence, which I guess is fine enough for the 'wall' within, and adds a nice feeling of sinister mystery to the proceedings.
The single track comes in at spot on the forty-six-minute mark. It’s constructed around a persistent and fringed blend of rolling, if slight dragged out low end- this is surrounded by constantly descending crisp crunch, with a hint of barren windswept bitterness off away in the distant. Both textures are fairly simplistic and base in their feel, though the way they are layered together creates an effective feeling of constant rolling and just above freezing white-ness, with a hint of static grey-ness. It’s not a ‘wall’ to astound and amaze with its detail or complex layers- but if you’re looking for a prolonged cold textural wrapping- Ame does the job.
If you’d like to check out Ame for yourself, and get wrapped in it’s seemingly unrelenting stark 'n' cold suffocation- drop by here to Imploding Sounds to check it out Roger Batty
