Go to the Nurse With Wound website  Nurse With Wound - Soundpooling [ICR/ United Dairies - 2006]

Soundpooling is the first proper Nurse with wound live album, recorded in Vienna, May of last year. Steve Stapleton and Colin Potter are helped by Andrew Liles, Diana Rogerson and Matt Waldor of Irr.App.(Ext) to create a captivating and surreal ambient soundscape.

Using elements from 2002 Salt Marie Celeste's seasoaked tones, along with last years sensual and hypnotic take on female voice Echo Poème, as well as elements from other material like Angry Electric Fingers set. Thus making a shifting, strange, soup of sound that's always adding new elements to keep ones attention. Coming off almost like a collection of greatest recent soundscapes, that is both hypnotic and strange. All parties concerned have managed to make a picec that is both familiar and yet alien, rewarding in sound jungle denseness. The new track none live track included here is called In Swollen Silence, it users chime and phonering-like tones, mixing in with a burning flute-like tone and half hidden American female dialogue. The track suddenly shocks the listener with a spring drone, come chantelements midway, much in the similar manner Angry Electric Finger did. As the track exits the female sing-song speaking is put to the front.

The special edition of this comes with an extra disk called Hand Job From A Singing Policeman. It takes a similar tact to Soundpooling, with recycling of elements from older material, but mainly uses the rhythmic elements. It opens with the beat from She And Me Free Fall Together in Free Death from the album of the same name, with new eerier sound elements over the top, then drifts into elements from 1996's Who Can I Turn To Stereo, all the time new sounds and drones are grafted and melded on. Towards the last quarter of the track, most rhythmic sounds have disappeared. Leaving a surreal see- sawing sound soup that takes in sound bit and bobs from the Shipwreck Radio disks.

Without doubt one for fans of recent NWW material, along with those looking for world class surreal ambient structures, to puzzle at and loose yourself in. You can buy it direct from here.
