Threesome Slitting - Live In NYC [Ominous Recordings - 2020]Here we have a seven-inch vinyl shot of searining 'n' densely intense walled noise. It brings together three of the scenes legends- Richard Ramirez( Werewolf Jerusalem, Black Leather Jesus, and many others), Sam McKinlay( The Rita), and Romain Perrot(Vomir). This release appears on Stockholm base Ominous Recordings- with the thick black vinyl presented in a monochrome sleeve. This features on its front three pictures that relate to each artist- so for Perrot we have a creepy Japanese love doll, for Ramirez a brutal throat slashed women, and for McKinlay a bent & contorted ballet dances foot. On the back, we have a photo of the three playing live together. This release was ltd to 200 copies, and as of writing the label still has copies.
The recording was made early on this year when trio met-up for this one-off collaboration. Each sides track here rolls in at around four & a half minutes mark, and each is as intense as the other. The first side is “Part 1” and here we find a hellishly dense & ear-hole grinding blend rapidly rolling & chugging billowing, & cluttering rib cage-rattling judder- with sudden searing shoots of off-pattern baying, wailing sear & spinning grind. Ever so often underneath I can make out mangled harmonics, and dialogue- I’m guessing this must be from some form of modified cult film recordings.
Flipping over & we have “Part II”- here we begin with a less raging, slight chugging & cluttering structure- this brings together deep grinding sweeps, rattling bays, and cascading metallic buffeting tones. Underneath I can make out a slightly ominous & uneasy ambient cluttering texture which really push the whole thing along nicely. With from time-to-time more offshoots occurring like extended bays & searings- with the whole thing been topped off with well deserved vigorous & passionate applause.
It’s always nice to see wall noise get released on a vinyl format- and with this release, Ominous Recordings have done a grim-but-classy job. Let us hope Ramirez, McKinlay, and Perrot get to do another one of these three-ways in the future, as they really did kick up a hell of dense, yet detailed & reward bit noisy wonderful-ness here.
