Ab Intra - Henosis VI- XI [Zoharum - 2020]Henosis VI- XI servers up six slices of moody ‘n’ experimental electronica, which moves between locked & brooding beat-scapes, lightly noise edged ambience, and stabbing-yet-atmospheric synth texturing. This release appears as a CD on Polish label Zoharum. Ab Intra has been active since around 2006- it’s the solo project of Polishman Radosław Kamiński. So far it's put out five full-length albums, one split album & a CDR. Henosis VI- XI is the 5th release by Ab Intra put out on Zoharum.
The album kicks off with it’s shortest & most urgent track “Henosis VI”- here we get just over four & a half minutes of spinning 'n' reverberating techno synth tones, which are under-fed/ later over-fed by pressing sheets of semi-glitching drone matter & high-end tone sweeps. By track three we’ve moved to simmering-yet-gently marching synth dramatics of “Henosis VIII” that has a decidedly moody sci-fi vibe. By track number five “Henosis X” we find a mixture of locked & chugging string tones, and wall of simmering synth sustained, which is weaved by hissing, sliding, and spurting electro-tones. With the album been topped off with "Henosis XI"- this is the longest track here at just under the ten & a half minute mark- it opens with slowly fading in blend of harmonically stabbing & jittering synth tones, as the track progresses we get these warming, building, yet at points slightly seared & forlorn washes of bright ambience and lightly tolling electro-noise texturing.
Henosis VI- XI highlights Kamiński talent for blending memorable-to-moody melodies, with simmering & lightly seared electro texturing- all making for a decidedly enduring electronica release that I’ve found myself playing quite a few times of late. Roger Batty
