Dosis Letalis - Dissecting The Truth [Botanical Dissection - 2020]Dissecting The Truth sees this Serbian wall noise project offering up two half-an-hour examples of textured detailed, yet slowly corrupting & subtle altering wall matter. The C60 release appeared summer of last year on Us Botanical Dissection, who theme all of their walled noise releases around nature and mysticism. The white shelled cassette is presented in a monochrome sleeve- this takes in abstract shadowy textures, also with cassette is a cardboard edged razor blade with the project's name on. This release appeared in an edition of just nine copies- so I’m not sure if there many left, but I’d say it’s certainly worth trying to track one down- as these two sides of tape stand as some of the best work I’ve heard from Dosis Letalis in some time.
Dosis Letalis is the solo wall noise project of one Nemanja Nikolić, who since 2015 has built up a discography of coming for 150 release. The projects sound is more often than not either fairly creative & at times low key texturing, or all-out raging wall matter- the release is sort of somewhere between those two points.
So on side A we "Dissecting The Statements To Find The Truth"- and here we find a ‘wall’ that has a sort rapidly rolling-then-panning back quality. It’s built around crudely hacking 'n' slightly spluttering low-ends, and these are initially edged by higher-pitched judders. As the ‘wall’ progresses more dirty & sputtering static tones come into play- sort of floating & bobbing around the original tones- and yet the rapidly pelting, then panning back quality is kept. But the further we go in Nikolić slow blurs & hazes the whole thing- so we get this wonderful feeling of rapid weathering- as if one is watching sped-up footage of a crumbling & aged brick wall as it gets battered & worn by the elements. The whole ‘wall’ feels nicely loose, and fairly woozy at it goes along- with Nikolić skilful hazing/ shifting the textural map, yet still always just retaining the initial shape & attack of the original elements.
Flipping over to side A, and we have “The Real Truth Is So Fucking Ugly”- and here we start off with a wall that’s a lot blunter, hacking & manic in its intent. We get a thicker blend of rumble ‘n’ hacking low-end, cluttering & cuttingly serrated splutter, and slight muffled pelting/ drone in the background. This track seemingly gets more & more rapid as it moves along- and with this of course the textures start to blur & corrupted- yet Nikolić still mangers to retain much of each textures shape. Not sure if this track is actually speeding up, or it’s just a trick of the ‘wall’- but whichever it creates a most appealing effect, that both batters & entrances one in a rather rewarding manner.
Dissecting the Truth finds Nikolić in fine texturally blurring 'n' corroding form severing up two worth half-an-hour walls, which manages to both batter ‘n’ rewarding in their attacks. As I mentioned early, not sure if this release is available, but it’s most certainly worth seeing if you can track down a copy. Roger Batty
