Labbra Di Lurido Blu - For Lisa [Archivio Audio Anonimo - 2017]For Lisa is a recent-ish full-length CDR release from Swiss wall-noise project Labbra Di Lurido Blu. The disc presents us with five examples of traditional-yet-fairly creative & often active HNW. Labbra Di Lurido Blu (Lurid Blue Lips ) takes its name from a 1975 film, which is apparently a blend of giallo, horror & social drama- it focuses in on nymphomaniac Elli(Lisa Gastoni),who is trying to settle down into normal married life when the thing starts to go astray. Labbra Di Lurido Blu is one of the projects of noise maker Anto, who is most known for his nylon fetish based & often creative walled-noise project Anonymous Masturbaudioum.
The unlabeled CDR comes in an A5 blue paper sleeve & plastic slip- artwork wise we a get series of ripped pictures of a woman (whom I’m presuming is Ms. Gastoni) , and the title of course, relates back to Ms. Gastoni. The release appeared on Archivio Audio Anonimo( which is run by Anto)- and as of this review is still available from the labels Bandcamp page.
For Lisa takes in five untitled tracks- & these have running times between ten & twelve-minute mark. Starting the release off we have “Untitled I”- this begins with a taut & detailed weave of small jittering static & constant buffeting rush- as the track progresses the smaller static elements start to shift into effective & interesting patter-nation, yet throughout a feeling of tense focus is kept in place- so it never moves too far from its original setting. Though in its last quarter we get a rewarding downpour of dense pelting – yet unformed-static detail
“Untitled II” starts off as a blend of crusty & cascading static rattling, which is underfed by a distant & weathered drone. As we move on the static rattle starts to shift & morph with more peaks & dips, before shifting into a more pronounced descent of cluttering crust & hack- with the remained of the track going into a more active wall-noise freefall.
“Untitled III” turns thing a little more moody & stark- with a blend of thinner static pop & hack, which is meshed with of skating & slicing weaves. This ‘wall’ does pare back from time-to-time, but on the whole, this is one of the more firm & fixed examples of wall-craft here.
“Untitled IV” sees a return to more shifting wall-craft- as the track moves from a blend of rushing ‘n’ hacking static, onto cascading & shapely mixes of tight judder & detailed popping, through to more weathered & atmospheric blends of hazy static meshing & grainy snap ‘n’ jitter. It’s a great track; highlighting Anto skills are creating a creatively shifting -yet-unbreakable sonic canvas of wall-matter.
The final track “Untitled V” starts out in fairly manic fashion with a tight & thick mesh of similar tonal ranged rushing & feast static. Before moving onto mixes of cluttering haze descents, and almost stinging & hammering white-outs of the relentless static pelt. All ending the release in a most intense fashion.
For Lisa is another example of crafted & creative walled noise from Anto, and while I slightly miss the more unsettling layers of his work with the Anonymous Masturbaudioum- there is little doubt of his mastery of the form here. So if you’re looking for often shifting & detailed wall matter, but don’t want the addition of more odd & unsettling edges, and of course the whole nylon fetishism thing…then I think For Lisa is for you.
