Trepaneringsritualen - Kainskult [Tesco Organisation - 2017]

Well, T × R × P needs absolutely no introduction for even the  most cursory death industrial fan. Bursting onto the scene back in 2008 he has gone from strength to strength, releasing music on labels like Malignant, Cold Spring and Tesco. Now, Sweden-based Trepaneringsritualen  (or T × R × P as it’s conveniently shortened to) unveils the latest album, Kainskult – a 9 track harrowing venture into ritualistic/death industrial madness.

For the uninitiated, T × R × P takes ritual and death ambient to the next level, surpassing almost everyone in his wake, he mixes the tortured harsh reality of Brighter Death Now with the thumping militaristic textures of In Slaughter Natives and weaves these into a backdrop of Black Metal vocals.

Starting with the almost choral “Death And Ecstasy” Kainskult starts as it means to go on – dragging you down in the pit of hell T × R × P calls his holiday home.  As the bombastic “Madr Malformed” follows this album quickly ups tempo and becomes a call to arms for every follower. This is marching music for the zombie hordes of hell.

“All Flesh Has Corrupted” has you on the edge of your seat with its delivery of harsh vocals and a pounding single beat.  There’s a punishment in this song that tells you T × R × P neither wants your acceptance nor cares whether you are enjoying the output. This is the spoken words of your torturer who revels in your pain as much as you want him inflicting it.

One of the main difference between T × R × P and almost everyone else in this genre is his vocals aren’t so harshly distorted as to render them completely incomprehensible and that both helps you and means you can’t mistake the utter disregard he has for the part you play in this music.

Not one single track on this album suggests anything other than a totally healthy misanthropic disregard for all human existence: you should be glad you are being given the opportunity to hear this music as your final moments of life ebb away.

“Feral Me” has T × R × P literally stomping around explaining that absolutely nothing matters to him. I do like the beautifully simple structure to this song, its completely primitive in its execution. A heavy beating drum with harsh vocals and the heart beat of a hell hound all mixed up together, and that works so well as its followed by the metal bashing screech of “Serpent Seed”. This is where TxRxP screams in your face and reduces you to a quivering wreck.

T × R × P releases another album, and another masterpiece. Truly, if you don’t know this project you need to. If you do know it, them you will be overjoyed at this release. It’s everything thats gone before with more added to it, the supersized T × R × P if you will. Perfect.
