The Creeps - The Creeps( Blu Ray) [Full Moon Features - 2017]

The Creeps is a late 90’s slice of classic monster fun, & here it's reissued for the first time on Blu Ray by Full Moon Features. It sees Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolf Man, and The Mummy brought to life; but with a twist, they are all only three foot tall.

Originally released in 1997, and directed by respected cult director Charles Band. The Creeps is very much of the comedy Horror variety, with a lot more chuckles-than- scares. Its plot tells of balding & tubby mad doctor, who’s stolen all the original manuscripts of classic horror novels- so he can bring the classic monsters into reality. But at the last minute, something goes wrong, and Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, The Wolf man, and The Mummy all appear with considerable shorter stature, and more than a little annoyed.

The Creeps are led by a rather indignant Dracula, played wonderfully by seasoned B movie actor Phil Fondacaro(Troll, Ghoulies II, Land Of The Dead, Willow and many other). And what ensures is an enjoyable a campy romp of a film, that brings in confused virgin sacrifice, a private investigator who works out the back of a video shop, a book lusting librarian, and of course The Creeps getting up to all manner of mischief. The whole thing passers by in a pleasing enough manner, and there are some nice nods towards horror fandom with some of the lines & quotes used. So if you’re a fan of horror in general, I’ll think you’ll enjoy this.

Extras wise we get a short making of, and it’s nice to see behind the scenes on a more recent Band production. You also get a trailer for the film, and a selection of trailers for other Full Moon related titles.

In conclusion, The Creeps is a satisfying enough horror comedy, with Fondacaro doing a great job as a disgruntled Prince of Darkness, and  he's surrounding by a rewarding & amusing enough supporting cast. As I said more chuckles-than-scares, but if you're in that type of mood The Creeps should appeal.
