Anonymous Masturbaudioum - Asphyxiating Synthetic Obsession [Reason Art Recordings - 2016]Asphyxiating Synthetic Obsession is another worthy & consistently smothering collection Nylon/feet/leg fetish themed walled noise from this Swiss project. The release comes in form of a C90 & digital download on up & coming Russian label Reason Art Recordings- offering up four twenty two minutes slices of dense & rewardingly constricting wall-craft. The monochrome labeled tape comes in a single sided black & white cover, which takes in stark & ripped collage of flesh, heels, and female faces. The texts are lo-fi white against a totally black background. All told simple yet effective bit of packaging. Sadly the tape is now sold out from the label, so you options are now searching for one on discogs, or downloading it from Reason Arts bandcamp
The four tracks are named “A.S.O I” through to “A.S.O IV”, and each is a highly satisfying mix of dense-yet-often-subtle shifting wall layers, Moorish textural blends, and a over laying taut, airless & tangible atmosphere of perverse sleaze.
Each of the four tracks pull-in from the onset, and keep you held there though-out due to well tooled blend of subtle shifting layers. Unlike some of this project past work I’m not really detecting any buried & odd field recordings, or unsettling sounds. But really with these tracks I don’t think they are needed, as Anonymous Masturbaudioum is creating dense & appealing enough blends with out them.
I’d say I enjoy all of the tracks here equally good, as each is a rewarding blend of wall denseness, near sonic suffocating, and perverse atmosphere. With the ‘walls going from focused mixes of thicker chopping ‘n’ thinner slicing static layers, onto spiteful blend of pummelling low-end & winery spittings. But if pushed I’d say “A.S.O III” stands as my favourite moment here with it’s intricately meshed & seemingly constantly cascading weave of tight judders, slice ‘n’ skating thinner tones, and hacking ‘n’ persistent static sub-tone showers.
All in all Asphyxiating Synthetic Obsession is well conceived & well tooled selection of dense-yet-subtle shifting wall work. With each track having a keen sense of tautness, perverse moodiness, and entrancement.
