Light Collapse - Coloured Walls Part 2 [Heart Shaped Box Prod - 2015]

Coloured Walls Part 2 is a CDR release from this prolific Russian walled noise project, and it appeared in January 2015. The disc takes in four creative & fairly varied sounding examples of wall craft, and each runs between seven & nineteen minutes.

The release appears on the projects own label Heart Shaped Box Prod, and features colour paint splashed & paint washed hard made sleeves. These two folded sleeves are CD sized featuring artwork on either side.

First out of the door we have “Part one”, and this track comes in at just over the fourteen minute mark. The track brings together two fairly sluggish & continually piling on textures- we have a murky & lose judder, and this is mixed a slightly faster  static focused jittering- both of these textures are seemingly running at slightly different speeds.  To start with there’s a slightly higher pitched,  trapped & semi harmonic rattling also present, but with-in a few minutes this has departed & we are left with murky, weathered, weighty, and fairly  fixed textural map of sluggish-ness. This track is an effective & texturally creative opening, and it stands as one of my favourite moments of this release.

Next up we have “Part two”, and this runs at just over the ten minute mark. After the sluggish & murky start this track picks up the pace, with a blend a trapped battering ‘n’ buffeting noise, which is covered with a crust of continually jittering & cold rain like pelting static. It’s an effectively weathered & taut wall, with both elements working well  together to create an attention grabbing yet slightly moody bit of ‘wall-craft’.

Third in line we have “Part three”, and this is the longest track here at the 19.25 minute mark. The ‘wall’ brings together a two rapid, seared yet at time slightly malfunctioning textures- we have: a fairly thick & continually pelting  gallop, and a taut jittering- this second element moves between mid to slight higher range through-out the ‘walls’ runtime.  Latter on an uneven line of cable buzz & deep simmer is added to the mix, & at times this almost brings the other elements to a stand still- but this never fully happens. By around the 12 minute  mark the buzzing element has departed & we are back to more rapid & uncaught wall-craft.  The whole track has a effective feeling unstoppable raging tension, but with rewarding slight awkward & off angular shifts in the mass of the ‘walls’ attack.

Last up we have “Part four”, and this slides in at just under the eight minute mark. The ‘wall’ brings together the following elements: a blunt slightly churning & muffled rumble, a chalky & hazed judder, a galloping & slightly sluggish locked pitter patter, and this suddenly sweeping yet very subtle semi harmonic high pitched tone. For the most part the  tracks a moody end to proceedings, though in the last few minutes a few of the textures get slight more agitated in their muffled yet seared industrial feel- but the whole thing still remains murky in it’s feel.

So in conclusion this is certainly a worthy chapter in this highly prolific projects out put- I’m not sure if there are copies this available of this release, but it would certainly be worth try to track one down if you can.
