Abyzm - Untitled [Static Wall Recordings - 2013]This CDR release from early summer 2013 presents the listener with a single slice of taut ‘n’ tense wall noise brutality from this Kansas City based project. This release was put out by Uk based HNW label Static Wall Recordings, in a edition of just 17 copies. The CDR comes in a A5 plastic slip sleeve. This features just a single piece of slight textured white paper, which takes in the labels logo in red, grey & black ink, the projects name, the tracks run, and it’s release date…so all told a extremely minimal bit of presentation. The single Untitled track offered up here comes in at the 24.11 mark, and it finds Abyzm giving the listener a taut & dense slice of fixed walled noise. The ‘wall’ is built around a firm juddering ‘n’ rippling low-to-mid range tone, and this is wrapped around by this thinner ‘n’ snaking static jitter. The whole thing has a very urgent & tense feel to it, as it surrounds you in it's noisy tautness. Both textures used to create the 'wall' are rewarding enough, and their textural mix creates some effective pattern inducing sonic illusions. In summing this Untitled CDR- I’d say it’s another consistent enough release from Abyzm, and if you are into brutal & fixed walled noise that has a taut ‘n’ tense feel to it this is worth a look… Roger Batty
