T.O.M.B. - Third Wave Holocaust [Malignant Records /Infect - 2013]

Third Wave Holocaust is the 2013 release from Eastern Pennsylvania’s T.O.M.B., and anytime there's a new recording from this project it's a time for silent rejoicing and anxiety.  The project has been releasing material since 2002, with each new release seemingly topping the next.  With the sole member know as No One, T.O.M.B. takes on a secretive aura which works perfectly with the art that is herein created.

Ten tracks are found here, starting with “Antagonizing The Unknown” and ending with “Tribute To Hanhua”.  All in all it’s a beautiful, cryptic, ritualistic and painful sonic jounery.  The discordant industrial ping of the opening track “Antagonizing The Unknown” dissolves into the loud and grating undulating sound of “Electric Exorcism”
Staticy reverb transforms into a neat echo enhanced with distant screaming on “The Great Venerat Insult”; while “Na La Gore Na” is the sound of pure evil, dissonant chanting and hellish atmospheres abound.  “Disrupting Admin” has a heavy buzzing and immense swirling echo, a tinnitus lover’s nightmare.  The final track, “Tribute To Hanhua”, rounds out Third Wave Holocaust and a lovely ending it is; the crescendo to a nightmare rich with ghostly vocalizing and crashing to an end with serene tolling bells.

By the time Third Wave Holocaust is through one has time to breathe and collect their thoughts.  T.O.M.B. is fine example of subterranean noisy industrial, a black ritual indeed.  Any lover of Gnaw Their Tongues would be giddily happy to unearth this.  Yet T.O.M.B. has their voice, one which is the soundtrack for the end of world; raw, dirty, disturbed and laid bare.  Here you will find all the beauty to be found in the destruction of humankind.
