Roro Perrot & Son Héroroïne - Ta bouche de fraise me rend si sauvage [Decimation Sociale ý - 2013]“Ta bouche de fraise me rend si sauvage” finds Mr Perrot (also of infamous French HNW act vomir) adding retro synth texturing/ electronics, & haphazard percussive matter to his dada/ demented take on experimental folk music. This new pro pressed CD comes in a edition of 100 copies, and these feature colour covers that take in tongue in cheek pictures of Perrot & a young lady in various posers & comic like set-ups. The release takes in fourteen tracks in all, and these last between the twenty second & just under eight & a half minute mark. Though-out the albums a fairly even mix of shorter & longer tracks, and these mix together Perrot’s derange vocalising, rudimentary/ off- kilter strums/ scuttles on both acoustic & electric guitars, synth & electronic texturing that sounds like it’s from some very strange & surreal late 1960’s or early 1970’s horror movie, plus from time to time you get the odd (sometimes rhythmic/ sometimes not rhythmic) percussive elements….oh & of course there’s the odd distant wail or chatter from Perrot’s son Héroroïne too. Compared with past releases from this project the type of tracks here are fairly varied we go from: stripped mixers of skittering/ unwell guitar & vocals, to more thick yet no less demented mixes of acoustic/ electric guitar, retro electronic throb & swirl, and darting on-off percussion. On the whole this is another rewarding release from this project, and it’s nice to see Perrot adding new elements into his sound too. Roger Batty
