Anonymous(2) - HNW [self release - 2012]

There are more than a few HNW acts who like to hide their identity, origins & make-up. This anonymous project (not to be confused with the historic war & atrocity based European project) seemingly has no name, neither has this release- so this I guess is the most mysterious HNW project yet.

The CDR release comes in a plain white card sleeve that features just a single black & white label with the letters HNW on it. The release offers up three untitled (surprise!) tracks that last between just under nine minutes & just over ten.

Each of the tracks is built around a fairly unforgiving, yet at times fairly active & shifting ‘walls’ of noise. These sometimes have shifting layers of electro texturing  & harsh noise drifts runing over the top of the 'walls'. The type of layers utilized here are fairly thin & shifting, mixing together static & almost slurred glitch like texturing.  The first two  tracks are a bit too shifting  & active in their feel for my liking, sure there some effective & rewarding textures on offer here- but more often then not the layers/ textures have shifted along before they start to truly enchant.

My favourite moment here comes in the form of the last ten minute track which is a built around a more fixed & unmoving ‘wall’- this is built around aquatic tipped electro drilling textures that a fed out into a hypnotic yet clinical  feel. I guess you could say this track sounds like a dense take on the type of futuristic& clinical sounding walled noise that Italian based TFT used to do. The track stop ’n’ starts once or twice, but mostly this is a impressive & intense bit of fixed ‘wall-making’.

On the whole this debut release offers up a fairly original & futuristic tipped take on walled noise, I just wish they’d made the first two tracks a little less active in their feeling, & focused more on fixed brutal memorability.
