Tromba - Torrential-(Infinity series part 3) [Sweet Solitude - 2011] | ‘Torrential' is the third release in the Infinity series which sees worldwide HNW acts attempting ambient and experimental forms of walled noise. This release features a single fifty five minute track that shows this Puerto Rico project offering up a track of rewarding shifting ambient static texturing & HNW matter. The tracks ‘wall’ starts out as a slow and muffled billowing meets juddering sort of textural affair, but as the track progresses Tromba masterfully alters and slowly morphs the track through to more pronounced yet still ambient juddering. Onto slow motion storm like textural batterings, through to more intense and active textural jitterings and judderings. Onto wonderfully hypnotic and entrancing banks of slightly faltering, descending and slowly fading then increasing static rain storm like banks of textured sound. Through to slow motion yet dense textural maps of boat deck like creaks and bows. Onto locked hypnotic and locked storm bound juddering and billowing wind like drills that slowly fade and drift outwards towards thiner sound maps. The Tromba project utilizes and users storm and weather like recordings to build there shifting and highly rewarding walls of sound, and I guess this track feels very much like a slowing moping and shifting storm of noise. Truly ‘Torrential' is a great and very captivating slice of long form noise making which aptly mixers and blurs the boundaries between HNW and ambient HNW in a very original and distinctive manner. This is certainly one of the HNW highlights of 2011 thus far!
