Disco Hospital - Hidden Driveway Ahead [self release - 2010]

Disco Hospital is a collaborative project from Josh Landry of Nymphomania with Eric Maden from Planet Question Mark.  Landrey has his own webzine called In Place of Dreary Patterns, which is also a radio show in his native Olympia, Washington.  He has many releases such as this one free for anyone to download, and you can also get handmade CDr copies upon request.

I got this release as a CDr, in fact.  My initial impressions looking at the hand-drawn cover wasn't much, looked like a local art student project, but I was happy that this was well-recorded electronic music.  Only a few tracks would be what you'd call 'disco', including one track that samples Soft Cell's version of "Tainted Love" (of course.)  This isn't Techno or Electronica or anything of that nature either -- just a couple of people who enjoy fiddling with synthesizers as a hobby (and me being an electronic musician I should know about that...)  The synths do sound retro and I'm pretty sure some of them are analogue -- I'm tempted to ask Landry himself.  Some amazing stuff here nonetheless with lots of skittery rhythms and complex arrangements.

So excellent electronic music from Disco Hospital.  For all the synth-freaks out there, something that will make you gasp with wonder.
