Like all the other releases on this  great French HNW label the 3inch cdr case features an atmospheric black and white  photograph taken by the labels head(Greg whose also in the brutal and uncompromising HNW Å). This times the pictures  of a shadowy figure half leaning against a wall, but surrounded by bright white light.

The tracks ‘wall’ is built around a weathered caustic drone that has this quite aggravated judder meets higher pitched circular tone running over the top of it. The track sees these two elements going from been quite taut and fixed together, to been quite volatile and suddenly violent with fiery outburst or more weathered and battering moments. But after these explosions or dense caustic outburst it always drops back down to a more fixed and unformed state again.

So it’s an effective, often quite tense/aggravated and at times stripped slice of  wall-making…though whether it brings to mind melancholia of the title I’m unshaw; to me this feels a little too nervy and angered to be plan melancholia maybe there’s a big dash of Schizophrenia in there too.
