Å - Yang Jia [Anarcho Freaks Production - 2010]“Yang Jia” is the first release from French based brutal ‘n’ punishing HNW project Å. The 3inch cdr release takes it’s title from the name of a 28 year old Beijing resident,who in 2007 was beaten by the police while in custody for riding an unlicensed bicycle. Then in 2008 Yang retaliated for his treatment by igniting eight petrol bombs and stabbing six policeman at a police headquarters. On offer on the 3inch cdr is a single untitled near nineteen minute track which find’s Å coming straight in with a very thick, bass muffled and unrelenting fast judder bound ‘wall’- which has an very nice overwhelming and quite suffocating feel to it. The track remains fixed, brutally pummelling and total unforgiving through-out it’s nearly twenty minute play time- it just seems to keep sucking you deeper and deeper into its nihilistic, airless and bleak sound world. The Cdr comes in a long mini cd case and features a picture of Yang Jia, the knife he used for stabbing the six policemen and a small write-up about the case. So a very brutal and unrelenting opening release from this new French based project which shows great brutal promise for the future.
