TFT - Foams | HFs | [TTM Incisioni Musicali - 2009]After to been rather taken by this Italian based HNW projects ‘Untitled’ Second album & it’s clean, digital take on the genre. I was egger to hear their début album, but sadly while this has it’s moments for the most part it sounds like a rather run of the mill excise in wall making. ‘Foams | HFs |’ sees none of the technology, laser sighted & slick but brutal feeling noise making of the second album, but instead homes in on more common garden deep textural analogue roars & storms. On offer here are two thirty five minute tracks which both focus in on fairly slow rolling & rumbling walls of noise that bring to mind either thick & pretty unmovable wind storm like tones or a low road like rumble; both tracks are ‘ok’ I guess & are most effective when turned up nice & loud so they engulf you in their slow roaring & tearing tone attacks. Sadly both tracks rather lack the moorish & hypnotic edge that really satisfying HWN gives you & after a while they do become a bit too monotonous & unrewarding for there own good. The second track is the better of the two as it seems to have marginable more rewarding rumble & drone about it. I’ve really tried to like this; playing it many times in many different moods as I was so taken by the projects second release, but sadly this is just too un-distinctive & run of the mill excise in wall making. A real disappointment, but at the end of the day it’s the projects first sonic steps & you can't be too hard on it. Roger Batty
