The Stupids - Violent Nun [Boss Tuneage - 2008]Violent Nun is a reissue of the first 7inch from Uk Hardcore funster The stupid’s; this was originally released way back in 1985 & it shows the band with a more American punk based sound than their later distinctive speedy and memorable UK core sound. As with the other albums in the excellent boss Tuneage The Stupid’s reissue series it’s made up into full length cd release with bonus tracks as well as a very funny half-an- hour taped interview with the band from around the original releases of this. The sound through out the 12 original tracks off the 7inch is a lot more punk based and slower than they would later become, but never the less all the tracks are enjoyable short slice of memorable punk matter. A few of the tracks here like The Waltz of the new wavers, Skid Row and You die would appear on later records re-recorded with a more speedy form distinctive Stupid sound; but it’s great to hear them here in a more down and dirty punk form. All of the 12 originally tracks are a lot of shambolic fun and very memorable too with the extra tracks 27 tracks been made up alternative versions of tracks and the already mentioned highly amusing full band taped interview. Another great reissue from Boss Tunge, blowing off the dust of this classic slice of early Supids history- for of course fans of the bands other work, as well as those who enjoy shambolic US tinged Punk.
