Luasa Raelon - The House of Flesh [Snip Snip Records - 2009]The House of Flesh once more finds David Reed & his Luasa Raelon project pulling the listener into sinister & dread filled continents of sonic fear. With maybe things going a little more noisy then his last release on Snip Snip records 07's Season of the Witch; but this is still prime death industrial meets blacked ambience of the highest and most horrifying order. From the albums outset and the ominously entitled No Good Can Come Of This, Reed slowly but surely pulls you deeper and deeper into an edgy, gloomy and creeped-out state literal soaking one psyche in dread and paranoia. As blackly curdled synth lines ebb and flow their grim oily tentacles around you, and all manner of unnerving sound matter bobs and swims by deeping ones dread. Through out the album Reed shows his talent at build-up tense, sickly and blacked atmosphere that stand grimly tall on their own and trigger all kinds of grim and distributed daydreams in the over active mind. My only slight criticism of the album as whole is that sometimes Reed pulls away too soon from a wonderfully formed grim atmosphere or dread dwell, as many of the tracks are relativity short around the four to five minute mark. But this is only a small point and pretty soon Reed submerges you once more in new dread as the next track worms its way under your skin. With House of Flesh Reed has once made another wonderfully damned and creepy sonic smothering that sure to unnerve and chill even the most jaded horror heads and grim sonic worshipers.
