Anthony Patera & Robin Fox - End of Daze [editions mego - 2008]

End of Daze is a wonderfully brain frying electro attack which takes in electro-acoustic elements, manic multi-layered electroinca that’s both highly precise and  jarring with the odd risers to more noisier overloaded territory here and there too.

Basically from the outset this never lets you settle in one place , feel comfy or get your breath back as the pair hit you with one juddering, dense and complex rhythmic and textural attack after another. As they bend, melt and cut-up their electronics with all manner of cut ‘n’ paste sound matter and sonic detail. But this thankful always stays entertaining and rewarding as well as been manic and jittering with energy; the pair never going down the ‘look how clever we are cut all these textures and elements together’ route. There are also the odd moments of more atmospheric toning and droning  electro sound scaping going on here too; like the last track Hyperpole which starts off with spread out ominous and metallic clunking elements before move more  into detailed and dense electro drone work-outs. But for the main of the album is fairly speedy and rollercoaster like in its make-up

An album that you have to strap yourself down to play just in case it send’s you slamming and careering all over the room like it’s own manic sonic terrain. End of Daze is a highly hectic, jarring yet listenable and rewarding slice  electro attack
