Go to the Jasmina Maschina website  Jasmina Maschina - The Demolition Series [Staubgold - 2008]

The Demolition Series is Jasmina Maschina’s debut album that offers up a collection beautiful sung and played pop folk songs, all of which flow with such effortless, fresh and self assured air you’d imagined she’d been homing her craft for many years.

The songs are built primal from rich, warming and intricate tones of acoustic guitar and  Maschina soothing, dark and often sensual dreaming singing.  With subtle touches of cello, Melodica, keyboard, paino and electric guitar  bobbing and detailing the songs harmonic grace. Opening up the album we have sweet city sue which feels like a 50’s pop song reborn with soothing acoustic guitar picking and distant drone awith of course Maschina effortless drifting harmonic tones. Later on we have the track Over which is a slow rising indie rock tune gone folk and swooned by lush string textures- Maschina harmonically and beautifully slide in and out the songs calming Seas. Really and truly there are no low points or filler tracks here, with the songs through changing pace and instrumental colouring through out are always consistent in songwriting flare, harmonic homing and rich/ accomplished and soothing playing.

I can see this appealing to anyone and everyone and not just folk fans as the Demolition Series is a collection of great tuneful, well written and conceived tracks performed with great passion, feeling and depth. One of the high points of this year and surly the debut album of the year.
