Seeker - Invocation of the sleeper [Autumn Wind Productions - 2007]

Invocation of the sleeper offers up one track of rhythmic  based dark ocultic ambience that mixers together gong tones, horror curdled synth drifts and general attempts to sound ominous and disturbed.

The track is primal built around a tolling gong or bell tone that is present through out most of the track, around this are placed rather clichéd creepy synth textures that move and melted in and around the central ritual pulse. Though this has a few chilling moments here and there, sadly on the whole it just doesn’t seem to conjure up a convincing enough dark or occult vibe or atmosphere. Too often in your minds eye you can just see someone messing around with a laptop and sound textures in their bedroom trying to sound evil and brooding, instead you should be getting the feeling your watching some Forbidden ceremony or rite in a moon lite forest.  On a plus note the packaging quite effective with a fold out black card with minimal ocultic symbol designers.

Really like the audio equivalent of a bad & bland B horror movie with little tension, fear or frights- It just feels all rather cheap and ineffective. If your after this kind of thing done well and with really conviction check out anything on the Aural Hypnox label.
